Youth Ministry Team

DOULOS (Legacy Ministry Team)

“The Doulos team is intended to help come beside youth and equip and train them in what it means to serve God through their unique gifting’s. It’s training students by giving them responsibly to serve in the youth-group and Church.”

Who is it for?

High-school Students grades 10-12 who want to develop who they are in the specific way God wired them and learn how they can use their gifts at BGT and Legacy.

What is the purpose?

The Doulos team is intended to help come beside youth and equip and train them in what it means to serve God through their unique giftings. It’s training students by giving them responsibly to serve in Legacy and BGT. The word “Doulos” means “Bond-servant” in Greek. To be a bondservant meant that you were first a slave, then after being given your freedom you give your life back to your master. Servants would do this if their master was kind and treated them well. It essentially was a giving over of your entire life to serve that master. In the Bible, there are many places where Paul refers to himself as a bondservant of Christ. Paul wants to give his entire life to serving Christ. The hope for this group is not to form a bunch of future pastors, but to create a group of students who learn to serve Christ in everything they do. This begins with first the journey of discovering who they are, how God has wired them so they can serve in the way God created them to serve. Some places would call this a leadership team or a student ministry team. That is essentially what this is, but the focus is on serving in Legacy and even within BGT.

What do you do?

Student will develop… previously existing skills, deeper understanding of God’s Word, and specific character traits. They will learn their spiritual gifts, their personality type and their strengths (from strength finders) for the purpose of discovering who God created them to be and how to use what God gave them. We will go on day trips and retreats. Each student will be given a mentor and specific place to serve either in the church or at Legacy.
